Biography

Virginie VAN INGELGOM is currently a PhD candidate at both Sciences Po Paris (CEVIPOF) and Université catholique de Louvain (UCL). Her PhD thesis, realized under the direction of Sophie Duchesne and Prof. André-Paul Frognier, focuses on the issue of the EU legitimacy from ordinary citizens' perspective, using focus groups and Eurobarometers in a comparative perspective. After graduating from the Master in European Studies program (UCL) in 2004, she started working as a research assistant on different research projects (mainly gender quotas and European citizenship). Since 2005, she has been awarded a PhD scholarship (FNRS) and been involved in the international research project CITAE - Citizens talking about Europe, in which Sciences Po Paris, the UCL and the University of Oxford take part (http://erg.politics.ox.ac.uk/projects/discussion_political/index.asp). She is the author of several articles, on the issue among others of the possible emergence of a ‘European community' and on methodological issue of using qualitative comparative analysis.
