Laurent Pernot is an internationally acclaimed scholar in ancient rhetoric. He is the author of, among others, "La rhétorique de l'éloge dans le monde gréco-romain" (Paris, 1993) and "La rhétorique dans l'Antiquité" (Paris, 2000, "Rhetoric in Antiquity" translated by W. E. Higgins, Washington, 2005)
