Ismaïl KADARE is a novelist and poet. Born in Albania, he lived there until 1990. Although some of his works are situated in Albania, they always address universal concerns, and investigate the borders between reality and dreams, between the irrational and the rational. He is the author of many novels including The General of the Dead Army (1963), The Three Arched Bridge (1998) and The Palace of Dreams (1993). He was awarded the first ever Man Booker International Prize in 2005.
This book has been selected to receive financial assistance from English PEN’s Writers in Translation programme supported by Bloomberg.
