A research programme dedicated to Digital Humanities was created in January 2010 by Paolo D’Iorio as a result of a series of exploratory initiatives during 2008 and 2009 that fostered collaboration between the Oxford Internet Institute, the Oxford e-Research Centre, the Faculty of Philosophy and the Bodleian Library and European and international researchers.
Its objectives are the theoretical reflection of the different ways of utilizing the Internet for research in the Humanities, experimenting with new ways of publishing and structuring scientific information, and organizing the collaboration among researchers with the help of this new digital medium.
The Digital Humanities research programme is not restricted to analysis and theory. It houses also a research group in charge of an electronic edition of Nietzsche’s oeuvre. It publishes editions as well as conceptual tools and technologies that are designed for use by a community of researchers. Two editions reached publications stage at Oxford during summer 2009.
1. Friedrich Nietzsche, Digitale Kritische Gesamtausgabe Werke und Briefe, edited by Paolo D’Iorio, 2009–. (Digital Critical Edition of the complete works and letters, based on the critical text by G. Colli and M. Montinari, Berlin/New York, de Gruyter 1967; at present app. 8600 pages have been published).
