Introduction


The library of the Maison Française d'Oxford is a study and information centre devoted to French culture and society.

The collection is made up of 43,000 books, around fifty periodicals, and a video club.

The library also offers:

  • Access to the OLIS network (Oxford Libraries Information System) for catalogue research and OXLIP (for academic databases),
  • Consultation of CD- Roms and Internet sites devoted to France,
  • A microfilm reader-printer,
  • A photocopier.

Membership & lending

You must be a member of the library to borrow documents
Membership is open to everyone (students, researchers, private individuals). It is non-transferable and valid for one academic year.
There are two types of subscription:

  • Books: Subscription is free. You can borrow 5 books for 3 weeks.
  • All items: You can borrow 2 video-tapes/DVDs in addition to 5 books. Subscription costs £20 for the academic year, or £10 per term.You can borrow 2 video-tapes/DVDs for 1 week. List of videos on this page.

It is possible to renew loans.
Readers are personally responsible for the items borrowed and must replace them if they are lost or damaged.
