Please tell us about your research project.
I just finished my PhD thesis in political science, entitled "Democratic crisis and contemporary changes in political representation: the Icelandic case (2008-2017)". It identifies elements for international comparison, such as the links between the 2008-2009 protests in Iceland and the 2010-2011 global mobilizations, partisan changes in the Western world and use of sortition as a political tool for constitutional renovation.
Staying at the MFO after my PhD defence is an exceptional opportunity to think about my future as a young researcher, preparing the diffusion and publication of my work and enjoying the best environnement for the writing of new articles.
Could you please tell us a bit more about your scholarship/exchange programme?
This exchange was made possible thanks to the research and mobility partnership between SciencesPo Lyon and the MFO. I will spend six weeks here as a young researcher, and even if the current conditions are not optimal, it is always possible to get in touch with other researchers and discuss our works.
First impressions of Oxford/the University?
Unfortunately, a general lockdown was declared just at my arrival in the city, but for the few that I have seen the city looks beautiful, and the presence of nature is clearly helping.
