Call for Papers: The Oxford Spinoza Conference 2027

The Oxford Spinoza Conference is an annual gathering dedicated to exploring the myriad manners in which Benedict Spinoza has contributed to the history of philosophy, and continues to shape our understanding of the world.

Discussions are cross-generational and trans-disciplinary. The fifth edition will take place at Pembroke College on Thursday 13 May 2027. The theme of next year’s conference is:The Global Spinoza

Keynote Speakers

Mioko Kawazoe (Keio University, Japan)

Alexander Douglas (St Andrews University, Scotland)

On the occasion of the 350th anniversary of his death, the exchanges will be dedicated to Spinoza's worldwide reception, to how his thought resonates with a wide array of global philosophical traditions, and to how the latter put Euro-Atlantic approaches into perspective. 

 Papers are welcome from across all generations of Spinoza scholars: we accept submissions from students, early career researchers and experienced academics.

The conference is organised in collaboration with the Oxford Philosophy Faculty and the Maison Française d’Oxford (MFO, CNRS UAR 3129).
