Please tell us about your research project :
My research project focuses on the use of artificial intelligence for condition monitoring. During my six-month stay in Oxford, I am developing deep learning algorithms to monitor the health of gears in rotating machinery. The aim is to detect faults at an early stage in order to prevent more serious damage and reduce maintenance costs. As part of this project, I develop Python-based deep learning models for fault diagnosis.
Could you please tell us a bit more about your scholarship/exchange programme :
I am currently in Oxford as part of an EDF-funded placement scheme, which gives French engineering students the opportunity to carry out a final-year research project in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford.
This research placement also fulfils the final research requirement for my engineering degree at École Centrale de Nantes.
First impressions of Oxford/the University :
My first impressions of Oxford have been very positive. The city has a unique academic atmosphere, and it is exciting to be in a place with such a strong research tradition.
I have also been impressed by how international and stimulating the environment is, both within the University and at the Maison Française d'Oxford. It feels like an ideal place to learn, collaborate with researchers from diverse backgrounds, and grow both academically and personally.
