The BA works with a number of national and international partners to set up funding programmes. Here is a selection:
- The International Fellowships Programme provides support for outstanding early career researchers to make a first step towards developing an independent research career through gaining experience across international borders. Each award is expected to involve a specific and protected research focus with the award holder undertaking high quality, original research.
- The British Academy’s Global Professorships are large investigator-led awards to attract internationally recognised established scholars to work in the United Kingdom, to undertake new, coherent and cutting-edge research projects. With the Global Professorships, the Academy is looking to support researchers that are proposing ambitious, beyond-the-state-of-the-art research that breaks new ground.
- Horizon Europe Pump Priming - The British Academy with the support of the Royal Society, the Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Royal Academy of Engineering are inviting proposals from UK and EU/Associated Countries-based researchers to pump prime collaborations to support the effective uptake of the opportunities provided by the UK’s association to Horizon Europe.
- The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship is a three year award made to an annual cohort of outstanding early career researchers in the humanities or social sciences.
- The BA/Leverhulme Small Research Grants are available to support primary research in the humanities and social sciences. These awards, up to £10,000 in value and tenable for up to 24 months, are provided to cover the cost of the expenses arising from a defined research project.
- Bringing independence, authority and objectivity, the SHAPE Observatory monitors the health and development of the humanities and social sciences at system-wide and discipline-specific levels.
