PhD Student - Social anthropology
Please tell us about your research project.
My research project explores the life experiences of nigerian women in France, convicted for procuring and/or sex trafficking, also named « Madams ». As a student in Social Anthropology, my fieldwork consists in meeting a small panel of women to gather their life stories and experiences of the activities for which they were convicted, following a biographical approach.
My PhD is supervised by Judith Scheele (EHESS/ CeRCLEs) and I benefit from a Phd contract co-funded by the EHESS and Région Paca. I am currently in my third year of my PhD.
Could you please tell us a bit more about your scholarship/exchange programme ?
I am realising an exchange between my school, École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), and the Maison Française d’Oxford, for a period of 3 months. This residency will enable me to conduct archival work and some fieldwork (in London).
First impressions of Oxford/the University ?
The Oxford University offers a wide range of academic et social opportunities. The many libraries will allow me to complete my bibliography. Moreover, the university offers a dynamic student life thanks to its various colleges.
