Please tell us about your research project.
I am currently in the second year of my PhD in modern history, under the co-supervision of Pr. Matthieu Brejon de Lavergnée (Nantes Université) and Pr. Irène Herrmann-Palmieri (Université de Genève). I am affiliated with the Centre de Recherches en Histoire Internationale et Atlantique (CRHIA, UR 1163). My work looks at the care of girls as a transnational and multi-faith philanthropic cause between 1860 and 1939. My research, situated at the intersection of philanthropic studies, history of religions and gender studies, focuses on three non-profit organisations: the Union internationale des Amies de la jeune fille (Protestant), the Jewish Association for the Protection of Girls and Women and the Association catholique internationale des œuvres de protection de la jeune fille. I am particularly interested in the development of a women’s relief network at the turn of the 20th century.
Could you please tell us a bit more about your scholarship/exchange programme?
I was awarded a monthly scholarship at the Maison Française d’Oxford in April 2026. This scholarship provides me access to the Bodleian Library to pursue my work. It allows me also to visit the London Library, the Rothschild Archives and the archives of the University of Southampton.
First impressions of Oxford/the University?
Oxford offers a unique atmosphere for research. The city is a perfect balance between the academic world, cultural life and natural environment. I am settling here !
