Please tell us about your research project.
My research project explores the complex relationship between private orders and the state in New York City. I draw on various scholarships, such as private governance, legal pluralism and legal anthropology, to investigate how private orders and the state interact and ‘negotiate’ interdependence and autonomy from each other.
My PhD is supervised by Dr Florian Grisel, an Associate Professor at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies (Oxford University, Faculty of Law).
Could you please tell us a bit more about your scholarship/exchange programme?
I am a third-year DPhil student here, at the University of Oxford (Faculty of Law, Centre for Socio-Legal Studies), and a resident at the Maison Française d’Oxford. I am staying here during Hilary Term before going back to fieldwork in New York City in April.
