Please tell us about your research project:
I am conducting a PhD in Political Science at Sciences Po's Center for International Studies. My research focuses on the influence of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in climate diplomacy. I investigate the strategies and dynamics of performances enacted by SIDS within and around UN climate negotiations. I conduct ethnographic work at climate COPs and interviews, combined with quantitative data from the UNFCCC.
Could you please tell us a bit more about your scholarship/exchange programme?
I come to Oxford to exchange with its rich pool of researchers on the topic, from the Department of Politics and IR where I am affiliated under the supervision of Prof. Federica Genovese, to Oxford Climate Policy and Oxford's Net Zero Initiative. I also hope to conduct interviews with stakeholders based in the UK, notably at the Commonwealth Office, and the Resilient and Sustainable Islands Initiative at the Overseas Development Institute.
First impressions of Oxford/the University?
Such a calming but also stimulating atmosphere, vibrant for its intellectual ideas and shades of green (& grey on rainy days)!
