Isaure Boitel is Associate Professor in early modern history at University of Picardy Jules Verne and researcher at the Centre d’Histoire des Sociétés, des Sciences et des Conflits (CHSSC, UR 4289). Specialist in political history and in history of visual culture in the early modern period, she is familiar with questions concerning the production, circulation and reception of images in Western Europe (16th-18th centuries). The research project she is currently working on is about the making and circulation of ethnotypes in European iconography (16th-18th centuries). She is interested in prints (satirical prints, broadside ballads, card games, fashion prints, maps...) produced in France, in the British Isles, in the Spanish monarchy and in the United Provinces that mobilise national stereotypes. For this new investigation, she has benefited from a CNRS-secondment to the Institut de Recherches Historiques du Septentrion (IRHiS, UMR 8529) during the academic year 2022-2023.
