Pascal Marty appointed as Director of the Maison Française d'Oxford

We're very happy to announce that Pascal Marty has been appointed as Director of the Maison Française d'Oxford, and that he will take up the post from 1 September 2020.
He will take over from Fred Thibault-Starzyk who has been leading the Maison since September 2016.

 

From 1998 to 2010, Pascal Marty was a researcher with the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research). He worked at a research unit called the "Centre for functional and evolutionary ecology", in Montpellier, then at the French centre for research in social sciences in Prague. Since 2010, he has been a University professor of Environmental Geography, and taught this subject at the University of La Rochelle, at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon and at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Pascal Marty’s research addresses the interactions between societies and their natural environments. He has conducted this at the mixed research unit called the “Laboratory of Social dynamics and Spatial Reconstruction”  (CNRS, Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne University, Paris Nanterre U., Paris 8 U., Paris U.).
From 2011-2017, Pascal Marty was Deputy Scientific Director for the CNRS at the Institute of Human and Social Sciences (InSHS). From 2017 to 2020, he coordinated the evaluation of French research laboratories in Humanities and Social Sciences at the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education.

Nous sommes heureux d'annoncer la nomination de Pascal Marty au poste de Directeur de la Maison Française d'Oxford.
Il prendra ses fonctions le 1er September prochain et succedera à Fred Thibault-Starzyk qui occupait ce poste depuis septembre 2016.

 

Pascal Marty a été chargé de recherche au CNRS (1998-2010), au Centre d’écologie fonctionnelle et évolutive (Montpellier) et au Centre français de recherche en sciences sociales (Prague). Depuis 2010 il est professeur et a enseigné la géographie de l’environnement à l’Université de La Rochelle, à l’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon et à l’Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne. Sa recherche est menée à l’UMR LADYSS (CNRS, Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, Université Paris Nanterre, Université Paris 8, Université de Paris). Il étudie les relations des sociétés avec leur environnement naturel.
Pascal Marty a été Directeur adjoint scientifique à l’Institut des sciences humaines et sociales du CNRS (2011-2017) et coordonnateur pour l’évaluation des unités de recherche en sciences humaines et en sciences sociales au Haut conseil pour l’évaluation de la recherche et de l’enseignement supérieur (2017-2020).
