Le colloque scientifique « Santé des écosystèmes forestiers : Enjeux de société », organisé par le GIP Ecofor et le MNHN, aura lieu du 21 au 22 mars 2023 à l’amphithéâtre Verniquet - MNHN Jardin des plantes - Paris 5ème .

Présentation
La notion de santé des écosystèmes ou de santé des forêts, après avoir été initialement définie dans une perspective de protection des forêts contre les ravageurs et les maladies, est aujourd’hui réexaminée à la lumière de nouveaux enjeux sociétaux mais aussi scientifiques et techniques. Entendue dans un sens très large, la santé des écosystèmes forestiers interroge la communauté scientifique sur les enjeux aussi bien environnementaux qu’économiques et sociaux. Dans le contexte des changements environnementaux globaux, les questions de stabilité, perturbation, dégradation, changement et résilience des forêts font l’objet de nombreux travaux. Les liens entre santé humaine, santé animale et fonctionnement des écosystèmes sont également un champ en plein développement dans le cadre de la problématique « One Health ». Réfléchir à la santé des écosystèmes forestiers est également connecté à des enjeux scientifiques et techniques concernant le monitoring et l’élaboration d’indicateurs pour une information intégrée sur l’état et la dynamique des écosystèmes.
Le colloque s’inscrit dans le thème « les forêts et la santé » de la Journée Internationale des Forêts 2023. Il fait suite à la journée d’étude « Écosystèmes forestiers » organisée le 11 mars 2022 par le Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle et par le GIP Ecofor. Ce séminaire a permis d’exposer l’importance des recherches ayant pour thème la forêt au Muséum avec des approches diversifiées - allant de la recherche fondamentale en écologie, botanique, aux sciences humaines et sociales - reliant aussi cette thématique au champ de l’expertise et à la gestion des collections. Il a montré l’importance de la biodiversité des écosystèmes forestiers, leurs fragilités face aux changements globaux, et l’ampleur des modifications des dynamiques socio-écosystémiques à l’œuvre, produisant des conditions nouvelles pour de nombreux habitats et espèces dont les bio-agresseurs (essences fragilisées, mortalité des arbres, etc.). Enfin il a souligné tout l’intérêt de la compréhension du nexus décisions humaines/dynamiques écologiques, facteur capital pour préserver des systèmes socio-écologiques forestiers mouvants, résilients et fournisseurs de services écosystémiques essentiels.

The scientific symposium "Forest Ecosystem Health: Societal Issues", organised by the French Network “Ecofor – Forest Ecosystems” and the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, will take place from 21 to 22 March 2023 at the Verniquet amphitheatre - MNHN – Botanical Garden, Paris.
Papers proposals are to be sent to: marie.cluzel@gip-ecofor.org and florence.le-vu@mnhn.fr, by 5 December 2022.
Proposals can be written in French or in English.
Context
The notion of “ecosystem health” or “forest health”, after having been initially defined in the context of protecting forests against pests and diseases, is nowadays re-examined in the light of new societal, scientific, and technical issues. Understood in a very broad sense, the health of forest ecosystems raises questions in the scientific community about environmental, economic, and social issues. Global environmental change questions the dynamics and resilience of forest socio-ecological systems. The links between human health, animal health and ecosystem functioning are also a rapidly developing field in the context of the "One Health" framework. The health of forest ecosystems is also related to scientific and technical issues for monitoring and developing indicators for integrated information on the state and dynamics of ecosystems.
The topic of this conference is related to the "forests and health" theme of the 2023 International Day of Forest. It follows on from the "Forest ecosystems" study day organised on 11 March 2022 by the “Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle” and the French Network “Ecofor – Forest Ecosystems”. This seminar showed the importance of biodiversity in forest ecosystems, their fragilities in the face of global changes and the extent of the modifications of socio-ecosystem dynamics, producing new conditions for many habitats and species, including bio-aggressors (weakened species, tree mortality, etc.). Finally, it underlined the interest of understanding the link between human decisions and ecological dynamics, a key factor to preserve socio-ecological forest systems which provide essential ecosystem services.
